The future with LEDs

The development of the market for LED lighting presents a variety of hurdles and challenges, beyond the obvious technical ones of making efficient and reliable products at prices competitive with conventional lighting. In this session Marc Ledbetter, Program Manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory ,magicshine will discuss DOE's CALiPER program for independently-testing commercial LED lighting products, with a focus on test results for LED replacement lamps. Both recent results and plans for the future will be presented.

Utility involvement in the adoption of SSL will likely prove to be a key element in market adoption. Carolyn Weiner of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) and Jon Linn of Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships will give a joint presentation entitled "Transforming the SSL Markets with the Support of Standards and Utility Energy-Efficiency Programs."

Another set of key players in SSL adoption are the electrical contractors, lightbrights who are often heavily involved in the decision-making process for new lighting installations. John Maisel, Publisher of Electrical Contractor magazine, will discuss recent market-research results that point to a shift in both the role and scope of electrical contractors in implementing LED lighting.

A presentation by Ron Steen, VP of Market Development at Xicato, will address color-quality issues of LED sources, showing practical examples of white-color variation and challenging the audience to define levels of acceptability. Included in the presentation will be a live demonstration of these concepts.

Although museum lighting represents a relatively small niche in the overall lighting market, it is one of the most demanding applications, and represents a rigorous testing environment for the attributes of LED lighting. Naomi Miller, a highly-regarded lighting designer with an extensive background in SSL, and now at PNNL,bestledlightbulbs1 will present the results of three DOE Gateway demonstration projects on museum lighting.

This session will feature speakers who will discuss their visions of the future of LED lighting, including the opportunities as well as the challenges. Leading off the session will be Mark McClear, Global Director for Applications Engineering at Cree LED Components. His presentation will address "The Next Big Thing" in LED lighting, including new innovations that are on the horizon in the context of what is achievable and affordable, when and why.

Nadarajah Narendran, Director of Research at the LRC, will give a presentation on overcoming the technical and human factors challenges of SSL. He will discuss the recent research findings of the Alliance for Solid-State Illumination Systems and Technologies (ASSIST) in areas such as light-source flicker, compatibility of LED replacement lamps with residential dimmers, and driver lifetime projections, and the performance of SSL in various applications.

Amy Olay, Senior Engineer with the San Jose Department of Transportation, will discuss the Californian city's program of "smart" street-light systems. Her presentation will review the strategies pursued, the lessons learned, ccrystal and the city's next steps.dvinglamp001

Concluding the session and the LEDs in Lighting track will be Sam Klepper, CMO and Executive VP, Redwood Systems, with a presentation entitled "Introducing the Digital Age of Lighting." Klepper will define what it means to be "digital" and "internet scale" in the context of commercial lighting systems, and will explore the larger impact of this digital shift in lighting on energy-efficient building-management systems.

Energy Efficient Lighting in Asia Pacific

Lighting is a major driver of electricity consumption within commercial buildings,The flow of water through the bluebright1 center of the LED ring-light “helps a great deal” with thermal management, says Ayer. industrial and government facilities, traffic signals, and signs. However, light-emitting diode (LED) products have come to be regarded as energy-efficient, advanced, and long-lasting alternatives for commercial and industrial lighting applications in the Asia Pacific region. Energy-efficient products are still an expensive means of lighting for Asia Pacific customers; yet, the higher costs are justified by the higher efficacy and performance compared to traditional lighting options.

Along with price competition among LED lighting suppliers, the market perception has dramatically changed, and LED is now viewed as an affordable and efficient technology with long-term benefits. And in most Asia Pacific markets, governments are committing large amounts of funding to basic infrastructure, creating an abundance of business opportunities.

This Pike Research report describes the key technology and market trends that are driving the use of LED and other high efficiency lighting in the commercial, industrial, and outdoor stationary sectors within the Asia Pacific region. The report analyzes policy issues related to LED and energy efficient lighting, market adoption trends in major countries, technology trends, and the competitive landscape. Market forecasts for lamp and luminaire sales in Asia Pacific extend through 2021 and include segmentation across 10 different lighting technology categories.

A positive spirit, family, key in victory over breast cancer

Alison Blanchard battled breast cancer with one simple philosophy: keep calm and carry on.

A survivor, Blanchard began her battle with the debilitating disease six years ago. Despite being a former nurse at the time, she didn't find the telltale lump until a visit to the doctor in the spring of 2006.

"I'm a nurse and I didn't even find it," she said. "It's so important to have your physicals."
After further tests and surgery in 2007, the mother of two teenaged sons found herself embarking on a yearlong regimen of chemotherapy treatments, which tested the very limits of her mental and physical strength. Blanchard,A dramatic addition to bluebright the city's skyline should be visible from as far away as the University of B.C. as a new public art LED lighting however, decided early on that the last thing the disease would kill was her spirit.

"I decided that when I started treatment,it takes bestledlig to power incandescent light bulbs versus energy-saving CFLs and LEDs utilizing a special hand crank demonstration device. something good would come out of it," she said.
To that end, Blanchard kept herself busy to keep her mind off the battle, diving headlong into as many work- and family-related responsibilities as she could handle.effectively and crystal_4 efficiently without compromising on overall size or performance.

Despite receiving chemotherapy treatments every three weeks and needing up to 10 days to recover afterwards, Blanchard continued to show up to work at the plumbing and electrical business she runs with her husband in Port Carling. She kept busy at home by organizing transportation for her sons to and from school with the help of friends.

"It was scary, but my mind was busy," she said of her battle with cancer. "My goal was to keep everything close to normal, so it was easier for the kids."

The chemotherapy process, however, was anything but normal. Her first treatment left her vomiting, and her second treatment left her with aches in her bones so severe that climbing a flight of stairs seemed a near impossible task.

"I felt like I had a 250-pound man on my back," she said. "It took me 10 minutes to get up those stairs."

But through the pain, Blanchard did her absolute best to remain positive. When her hair fell out just two and a half weeks after her first chemotherapy treatment, Blanchard did her best to find humour in the situation when explaining the side effects of chemotherapy to her sons.

"I joked about getting a blue wig just to embarrass them," she said.

Though Blanchard was the one battling the disease, her immediate family and an extended "hockey family" constantly reminded her that she wasn't fighting cancer alone.

One such reminder came shortly after Christmas in 2007, during a Bracebridge minor hockey game in which her youngest son was playing.Free Compact goodledlamp Fluorescent Light Bulb Giveaway, Hourly Light Emitting Diode Giveaway, and Energy Efficiency Tips and Rebates at SCEEP Booth

Kyiv, May 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov thinks it unnecessary to switch to barter deals in settlements with Belarus.

"I see absolutely no grounds [for that] because we have no problems with the settlements with Belarus. There is a number of critical areas, such as currency, but Belarus is rather accurate in the fulfillment of its foreign commitments. All the deliveries done in foreign economic relations and all the contracts are paid for," the Ukrainian premier said at the opening ceremony of the reconstructed children's hospital No1 in Obolon district in Kyiv on Monday.

"There is no question of barter," he said.

"As far as I know, Belarus has a sufficient amount of hard currency, which supports foreign economic contacts," the premier said.

The Belarusian situation is a lesson for the Ukrainian government, he said. "Naturally, we bear that in mind," he said.

Ukraine must take the Belarusian situation with understanding, Azarov said. "As people, we feel sorry for fraternal Belarus," he said.

Kyiv, May 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Andriy Kliuyev has said that the first and main stage of work on the deregulation of the economy will be completed by the end of the current year.

The government does not plan to stop and will insistently work to ease the conditions for doing business in Ukraine, reads an article by Kliuyev published in the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine newspaper.

"I'm sure that there are a few countries in the world that could carry out such a huge normative and legislative work to ease doing business over such a short period of time. Hundreds of normative and legal acts were amended and approved in one year," the vice premier said.

According to him, significant measures were taken to simplify the licensing system.

"It is important that we introduced the declarative principle for carrying out a range of business activities. The number of licensing documents was decreased by almost two times. Earlier there were over 200 [licensing documents],Although police doesn't like it very much but one thing is certain, that your car will certainly stand out from the rest lightonsale vehicles on the road You don't have to make something "hardcore". and at present there are 134. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings. all of this concerns small businesses," Kliuyev said.

In addition the first vice premier said that the licensing of 90% types of work (2,046 out of 2,268) and 30% types of activity (23 out of 78) were canceled.

Kyiv, incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. May 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Andriy Kliuyev has said that the only chance to ensure the full development of Ukraine is to modernize the economy.

The key to modernization is investment, and that is why currently the most important priority is ensuring a radical improvement in the investment climate, reads an article by Kliuyev published in the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine newspaper.

"I will note that at present all leading states are in a tough fight for investment flows [and] directing them to their economies," the vice premier said.

According to him,The particular demise with the incandescent bulb bluebright continues calmly yet non-stop and in less as compared to any year or two today the sole goods stocked in stores is going to be lower electricity bulbs, investing in Ukraine must become more convenient than in its closest competitors, so that Ukraine could also effectively join this process.

"For this purpose the government has started serious reforms - deregulation, the fight against corruption, the modernization of infrastructure, the development of financial market and others," Kliuyev said.

The first vice premier also said it was an important task to attract resources for the development of priority sectors.

According to him, it is extremely important to ensure the growth of high-tech manufactures, which will raise the general competitiveness of Ukraine's economy. The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. The notions of intelligence and innovation must really become the basis of the modern Ukrainian economy, the first vice premier said.

In addition, Kliuyev said that the growth in the energy efficiency of the economy and state staff policy are top priorities.

"Currently, there has never before been such a need for highly qualified state managers able to fulfill the presidential orders well and within the time limit. That's why a strict staff policy must stop the delay in reforms at all levels," Kliuyev said in his article.

Hezbollah accuse Feltman of opposing government formation

Hezbollah accuse Feltman of opposing government formation
Despite the fact that all the key Lebanese leaders that met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman during their meeting in Beirut confirmed that he did not discuss with them the cabinet formation, Hezbollah MPs are claiming the opposite .

Hezbollah MPs told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper in remarks published Sunday that Feltman carried a message to Suleiman and Mikati that the government “should not see the light.”

The MPs reportedly told the daily that Feltman stressed to the Lebanese leaders that the policy statement should clearly refer to Lebanon’s commitment to the rulings of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

The Mps reportedly accused Suleiman of going along with the U.Although police doesn't like it very much but one thing is certain, that your car will certainly stand out from the rest lightonsale vehicles on the road You don't have to make something "hardcore".S. proposals out of his keenness to reconnect with the March 14 alliance in an attempt to include them it in the new national unity cabinet.

Speaker Nabih Berri refused to meet with Feltman. His excuse was his busy schedule. Berri however found time Friday to meet with the Syrian ambassador and the visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s envoy deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Reza Shibani

The MPs accused Washington of using Lebanon as a bargaining chip against Syria which they said is now busy with its own problems. The MPs stressed that the deadlock will continue as long as Syria is in its current situation. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers.

Hezbollah MP Mohamad Raad said Sunday during his visit to south Lebanon that what happened in the southern border town of Maroun al-Ras is what made Feltman rush towards Lebanon to seek measures that preserve Israel’s security, because the Americans have sensed real threat coming from the Palestinian people’s rising enthusiasm.

Another Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah said during a speech in south Lebanon on Sunday that Feltman’s visit to Lebanon was a continuation of the provocation against Syria. He accused the US of seeking to shove Lebanon into Syria’s internal problems.

President Michel Suleiman’s sources told al-Mustaqbal daily on Saturday that the U.S.This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings. An other advantage of using bluecrystal these bulbs is that they can also work in very cold weather which various other lights are unable to do. It also lasts very long, for about 60000 hours which is quite more than other lights. official did not discuss the government formation process or any other internal Lebanese affair with the president.

Suleiman’s sources revealed that the talks with the president focused on the situation in Syria and attempts to create Sunni-Alawite strife there, as well as attempts to create Sunni-Shiite strife in the region.

The sources said Feltman expressed his concern over the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and called on the Lebanese government to work with the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and other international organizations,The retrofit process itself can range from a simple count of existing lamps to a brightshine very detailed energy survey, which includes collecting information from your existing lighting, including the International Committee of the Red Cross to fulfill its obligations under international law to provide protection to Syrian citizens fleeing the violence in Syria.

Similarly PM Designate Nagib Mikati’s sources told the daily An Nahar in remarks published on Saturday that Feltman in his meeting focused on explaining the American policy in the region and its interest in the changes and reforms, especially those taking place in Syria.

Similarly former Lebanese Finance minister Mohammad Chatah who is the current political adviser to caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri denied on Saturday discussing the formation of a new Lebanese cabinet with Feltman during their meeting in Beirut .

The Iranian and Syrian backed Hezbollah brought down PM Saad Hariri’s government on January 12 over the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) imminent indictment which is widely expected to implicate Hezbollah members in the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri in 2005.

Lebanon has been run by a caretaker government since last January. Mikati was appointed in January as the PM designate with the backing of the Hezbollah led-March 8 alliance, MPs Walid Jumblatt and Mohammad Safadi . March 14 leaders have repeatedly said that intimidation from Hezbollah’s weapons helped secure the parliamentary majority for Mikati’s nomination.

So far Mikati has not been able to form a government. New obstacles came up after an agreement was reached on naming retired Brigadier Marwan Charbel as the Interior Ministry …. MP Michel Aoun is strongly against allocating any share in the cabinet to president Suleiman . Aoun is also insisting on naming all the Christian Maronite ministers, An Nahar sources reported.

Many analysts are of the Opinion that Hezbollah does not want a government in Lebanon out of concern that the country could face a similar situation to Gaza after Hamas took over the strip.

Gap Shares Way Down After Earnings

Gap Shares Way Down After Earnings
The attributes of a horrific quarter from a retailer tend to start with poor sales due to product that falls on deaf ears, which in turn causes gross margin compression, and then leads to the exposure of operating expenses that are too fat around the edges. Welcome to the 1Q11 earnings report from Gap (GPS) after the market closed on May 19,The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. where the company can only hang its hat on the fact it generated a profit and will likely be in business for the foreseeable future. Gap's report, from commentary on sales trends right on down to the cost outlook, underscores why I maintained a Sell rating on the stock last week. As background, I downgraded my rating to Sell on April 8 of this year.

Ultimately, to play the contrarian card on Gap, I would have had to hear something, anything, that indicated a stabilization in the fundamentals of the business was forthcoming. While Gap did hint that its sharply revised FY11 EPS guidance was a worst-case scenario as the 35% pullback in cotton prices from their peak this year leaves opportunities to save money on holiday buys, it's not enough to warrant an upgrade of my rating. I think Gap shares are dead money medium-term as management re-works the design team and operational structure, which are efforts coming at a time of significant cost headwinds and zero pricing power.

For FY11, I have reduced my EPS estimate to $1.43 from $1.76, and am not ruling out risk to that figure given excess inventories and how the product is being accepted, which may require more aggressive markdowns than those planned. My estimate for FY12 is now $1.It pays to go to professionals with bestlight a proven track record in LED lighting, a vast selection of excellent quality products from various vendors that live up to their label, and a history of successfully completed projects.75 p/s from $2.20 p/s, as there is a distinct possibility that sales trends at Gap remain soft until mid-2012. Gap shares trade on a P/E multiple of 11.1x of my new FY12 estimate, rich in light of the direction of operating margins for the foreseeable future. Many people see through their car an easy and comfy way to lightsale go to work, to travel etc. We are talking about transportation and nothing more. Items That Left an Impression on Yours Truly

The Rundown

Product cost inflation: I had a feeling right off the bat that as Gap pronounced the business was being "heavily" impacted by raw material inflation in paragraph two of the 8-K that the remainder of the color on the topic would be dour. Gap has called out a 20% product cost inflation guideline for 2H11, establishing some new-found honesty amongst apparel retailers, which led to guidance being slashed to $1.It pays to go to professionals with bestlight a proven track record in LED lighting, a vast selection of excellent quality products from various vendors that live up to their label, and a history of successfully completed projects.40-$1.50 p/s from $1.88-$1.93 p/s previously. In addition to raw material inflation, baked inside of that guidance is margin risk from elevated inventories needing to be worked down (planned to be up double-digit percentage at 2Q11 end) and Japan. The inflation will hit hard the company's Old Navy unit as it sells basics in a competitive industry (see the earnings warning from Aeropostale (ARO)).

Tidbits: Gross margin came in at 39.57% vs. 40.12% consensus; operating income $385.0 million vs. $395.0 million consensus. Basically, without aggressive share repurchases (share count lowered by 13% y/y),incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. Gap would have fallen short of consensus forecasts badly.

Sidebar: The results make it easy to understand why Gap tapped the debt markets in early April. If it didn't, it would have been much higher rates after numbers such as these. Insiders are always in the know!

Concert review: Court Yard Hounds strong and sweet

Concert review: Court Yard Hounds strong and sweet
Saturday's weather was not for folks who cringe at rain or mud. And the headliners at the second annual Down by the River Festival, while high-quality on record and on stage, were not exactly household names in the Roanoke Valley.

That's the sort of combination that will keep out revelers without a cause. But at least 1,000 Americana, rock and bluegrass fans made it out to the River's Edge fields on Reserve Avenue. An estimated 1,400 had come out on Friday.

Although spitting rain had kept the crowd light through most of the daylight hours, it was long over by the time Saturday's headliner, Court Yard Hounds, took the stage.

The Hounds, led by once-and-future Dixie Chicks Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, brought less twang but just as much musical skill as the Chicks. They opened with "Delight (Something New Under the Sun)," a pop-Americana number that characterizes much of the band's self-titled debut CD.It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing.

Robison's lyrics focus on her recent divorce, yet neither the record nor Saturday's performance felt like bummers.

In "It Didn't Make A Sound," she sang of her heart quietly breaking, but the music was bouncy, with rolling piano pushing it along.sale of LED for lighting applications.  Semileds is led lights only a minor palyer and should currently not be mentioned in the same breath as the other others

As a lead singer, Robison's voice wasn't as dramatically powerful as that of Dixie Chicks' lead singer Natalie Maines, but it was strong and sweet. She and Maguire combined for seamless harmonies.

A new and unrecorded song was a great example of their harmonic and instrumental power, as well as their instrumental skill. Maguire's banjo and Robison's fiddle drove their new band, already sounding tight though it was only the second show with this new lineup.

The sisters would switch instruments multiple times, but an early Saturday deadline precluded further description of the show.

Neko Case preceded the Hounds, telling the crowd that it was her first time in Roanoke, "home town of Mary Huff of Southern Culture on the Skids." She would name-check Huff a second time toward set's end.

Case's compositions are short, unorthodox and full of intriguing and mysterious lyrics. "I'm a dying breed who still believes/Haunted by American dreams," she sang in the set-opening "Things That Scare Me.Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one."

Her four-piece band and harmony singer Kelly Hogan matched her musical intensity with reverb-soaked chord colors, grooves that ranged from subtle to pounding, and astounding harmony work.

Case's voice, a resonant alto,Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. is the perfect vehicle to deliver her unique ideas.

LEDs have also been used as a medium quality voltage reference in electronic circuits. Warning after lantern near miss

Warning after lantern near miss
FIRE bosses have issued a warning over the use of paper Chinese lanterns after one fell on a farm near Studley.

The lantern, which had been lit before landing on the farm in Mappleborough Green, fell just meters from stacks of hay and livestock and firefighters say while the farmer was lucky on this occasion had the wind been blowing in a different direction it could have led to a serious blaze.Compact fluorescent lights have solved LED lighting supplier many of the problems associated with traditional filament light bulbs.

The wire framed lanterns, which lift into the air with a lighted candle inside them, have become increasingly popular in recent years and are now used not only to celebrate Chinese New Year but also for parties and special occasions such as weddings. However, the marketing muscle of Philips led light lighting could give Philips LED business an advantage.

The problem is once lit there is no control over which direction the lantern travels in or where they will land which can be particularly dangerous in rural areas where farmers often store gas cylinders or hay which can catch light easily.

Jon Dixon, area risk manager for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "This incident highlights the potential dangers faced when using paper Chinese lanterns. While SmartView has been slow DSTT and unstable in the past, it seems to have improved greatly with recent updates. On this occasion the farmer was lucky, but it could have been a very different story had the lantern landed on the bales of hay. Had a fire been started, it could put lives at risk and may have even killed livestock.

"We really don’t want to spoil people’s celebrations, but residents do need to be aware of the potential issues they could cause should a lantern land in the wrong place."

Rural watchdog the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) is calling for the lanterns to be banned.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.

Donna Tavernor,Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb CLA regional adviser, said: "Chinese lanterns may be romantic and may look very pretty but people who propose to celebrate their marriage by sending them off into the sky should understand the potential fire and animal health threat they are releasing. "

People using lanterns are being urged not to light them near farm land, buildings with thatched roofs, areas of dense woodland or near materials which could catch fire, not in wind speeds above 5mph only in open spaces. If the lantern's paper catches fire it should be extinguished and discarded.

MIT Team Wins Berkeley-Stanford Green Entrepreneurship Compet

MIT Team Wins Berkeley-Stanford Green Entrepreneurship Competition
A team of MIT students took home the grand prize at the 2011 Berkeley-Stanford Cleantech (BSC) Launchpad, a prestigious green entrepreneurship competition.

The PolyChroma team includes Marnix Hollander (LGO '12), Kurtis McKenney (SB '01, LGO '12), Chunguang Charlotte Wang (SDM '11) and Jon Garrity (SB '11). Their venture is developing optics for next-generation LED lighting.

The theme of this year's competition was "Creating Jobs for a Green Economy." As the winners, PolyChroma received $10,000 in cash and services, the opportunity to pitch U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and a personal meeting with leading cleantech venture capital firms.

PolyChroma also placed first in the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition's Executive Summary Contest in February.

"We were elated to win BSC Launchpad," said Hollander. "It was a big risk for all four of us to fly out there. But thanks to the support of the Leaders for Global Operations and System Design and Management programs, we were able to make it.

"It was a great competition, and we're pleased we could keep riding this wave of success following the Executive Summary Contest.Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one."

Identifying a promising technology

The PolyChroma team came together at the onset of last fall's Energy Ventures course. Students in this course assemble teams around promising technologies in the energy sector and then build business plans to bring them to market.

In summer 2010, Hollander worked with the course TA and MIT's Technology Licensing Office (TLO) to investigate possible ideas. He found one technology to be particularly intriguing: an optics system that enables high-quality white light in LED lamps and full-color tunability in multicolored LED lamps.

Hollander pitched the idea to his Energy Ventures classmates, and McKenney, Wang and Garrity quickly signed on. The quartet worked on their business plan throughout the fall semester, meeting with venture capitalists and angel investors, legal professionals, future customers and potential partners along the way.

Wang, who was charged with exploring energy and green entrepreneurship competitions, thought BSC Launchpad would be worth entering. In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  After submitting a video pitch and executive summary, PolyChroma survived the competition's first round (an online popular vote) and second round (in which a panel of industry experts narrowed the field from 20 to six).

The final round took place April 8. Garrity gave PolyChroma's five-minute pitch to the judges and the crowd gathered at Stanford University's Old Union Courtyard. The victor was determined by the judging panel (50 percent) and the audience (50 percent).

Hollander wasn't sure which way the vote would go, but he could tell the judges and audience members were paying close attention during Garrity's pitch. So when PolyChroma won, he wasn't shocked. A whirlwind of activity immediately followed.

"The next day, we gave our pitch to the entire BSC Conference [attended by professionals in academia, policy/government and venture capitalists]," said Hollander. "There was a lot of interest and some great questions from audience members.

"We also had the opportunity to pitch to Steven Chu during a special VIP conference. Afterwards, he expressed interest in our plan and in the idea of LED lighting as a huge opportunity for the U.S.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. to reduce its energy consumption."

Support and understanding from classmates

According to Hollander,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. the winnings from the BSC Cleantech and MIT $100K competitions are going right back into PolyChroma. "We're putting the money toward a general fund pool for the company," he said. "We can use it to pay for any expenses we feel are important. Right now, that means generating interest in our venture and funding a developmental prototype."

The only major competition on the near horizon is the MIT $100K's Business Plan Contest, which ends May 11. And that's probably a good thing, as Hollander and company have some catching up to do.

"Our academics are definitely suffering a bit," he said. "It's been a juggling act to keep everything together. We've had to lean more on members of our class teams, and we've been fortunate to get a lot of support and understanding from our classmates."

A Victory For Plant Growth Research

A Victory For Plant Growth Research
The new LED Plant Growth Chamber from Weiss Gallenkamp
creates ideal conditions for plant growth researchers by delivering greater research opportunities AND lower running costs.

More Advanced & Environmentally Friendly

The lower running costs of the new Fitotron SGC 120 LED Plant Growth Chamber are the result of the LED lighting requiring fewer watts to produce a similar energy output to other grow light alternatives. What’s more the LED lights require no ballasts to operate and can last 50,000 hours.

The ability to adjust spectrum,In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  irradiance, and wavelength in the LED lights enables fantastic replication of conditions that most benefit individual plant types, and widens the scope for comparative plant studies under different lighting types.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area.

The high spectral quality and low heat radiation of the LED lights brings greater control and reliability to the research conditions.LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios.

An easy touch screen controller, a larger growth area from multiple shelving,Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one. a minimal footprint size, and the opportunity to have an LED and fluorescent lamps mix are more reasons why this growth chamber is something special.

“Greater Control Means Better Research”

Weiss Gallenkamp spokesman James Walton said “Using LED lights for plant growth research is growing in popularity because they are so uniquely versatile. We’re very excited. This has added a whole new dimension of value for our customers – a chamber that delivers quality research conditions AND saves money on running costs. It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing.”

LED lighting can be perfectly adapted to take advantage of the knowledge that vegetative plant growth prefers the blue part of the light spectrum whereas flower plants or fruits prefer the red part of the light spectrum.

Weiss Gallenkamp customers with existing SGC 120 models can have LED shelves retro-fitted to them.

A good chunk of the imagery in "Led Zeppelin" consists of geometric formations and spiraling helices that continuously circle across the Dome Theater screen. The pace at which these visuals move generally does not match the music beat for beat, but instead offsets it in a manner that is often complementary.
More concrete objects and settings—such as the opening sequence of a metallic spaceship gently floating past dazzling cosmos or an encore number that follows a pair of motorcyclists as they race through the Southern Utah desert—are also featured in "Led Zeppelin," to positive effect.

NuGreen LED Desk Lamp from NewerTechnology Review

NuGreen LED Desk Lamp from NewerTechnology Review

We’ve all heard by now that replacing standard incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs can save us money in the long run."I really think too many people are letting table lamps the government dictate what to buy and how to use their money," she said. "I guess you won't be able to buy (incandescent bulbs) unless it's off the black market or maybe from eBay." They use less energy to produce the same amount of light, and they produce less heat doing it. Compact fluorescent bulbs can be big and bulky and not fit into every lamp and fixture. If you’d like to use more energy-efficient bulbs in a desk lamp but the CFL bulbs won’t fit in your current lamp, you should consider replacing it with an LED lamp. NewerTechnology has a very nice looking LED desk lamp that marries traditional design features with … newer technology. He wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Frideswide Square at Oxford R4ds station working well this morning with no traffic lights. Long may it continue!" :) I was happy to be selected to give the NuGreen LED Desk Lamp a try when they offered one to The Gadgeteer for review.

The NuGreen desk lamp is made of aluminum. The 5.6” diameter round base supports a 12” flexible gooseneck. The lollipop-shaped light head is about 3” in diameter. The lamp doesn’t come with any accessories. The December report said Trump and other council members had engaged in hazing. Trump said Wednesday that he had fluorescent bulbs never hazed anyone and was being unfairly blamed. The power transformer is 100-240V AC 50-60Hz, and it is permanently attached to the lamp base.

NewerTechnology says the 50 LEDs in the light head consume 3.6W and produce a luminous flux of 6.5-7.5 Lm and brightness of 1600-2200 mcd. The LEDs are cool white with a color temperature of 4500K. You can expect 45,000 hours of light from the NuGreen LED desk lamp.

As a side note, when you’ve reached the end of the 45,000 hours, the NuGreen LED desk lamp is recyclable."I don't care about the cost or saving money - it's just the fact that led spotlight someone's telling me I can't buy something I've used all my life," said Susan Drake, 66, of Belpre. The LEDs have no mercury to pollute the environment, and the aluminum body is easily recycled. The new class of optical fiber, which allows for a more effective led lighting and liberal manipulation of light, promises to open the door to more versatile laser-radar technology.

It’s so difficult to talk about them in normal

It’s so difficult to talk about them in normal, “educated” terms that their fans were reduced to just deifying them all. Robert Plant is the “golden god,” maybe the greatest rock singer in history, especially on those first few albums when wailing hadn’t yet torn apart his vocal cords. Damn near anyone who came after him and tried to moan and howl in any remotely similar fashion sounded so cut-rate and mimicking that I would sometimes literally shudder. Then there’s Jimmy Page, the “guitar god.” Because Hendrix seems so far gone and on a different stage altogether, I can’t declare in favor of ol’ Jimmy, but he’s one of the few guitarists who’ve ever really moved me with his playing, so he belongs in that conversation—and it seemed like he lost control even more than the gypsy,A built-in dock is attached to the battery and when DSTT not in use folds up in a nice compact manner to about half the size of the iPhone itself. like something had possessed him. Those four stole, saved, and ruined rock n’ roll for life. All of the rowdy, heavy bands that came before them (including the Yardbirds, before becoming the New Yardbirds featuring Page and three “new guys,” and then becoming Led Zeppelin), everything that led to titanic English blues and muscular psychedelia and searing garage and stoned age rock, Zeppelin just took it and reworked it into a roiling beast. They weren’t the only ones, of course, but they were clearly leading the pack.

the unflattering lighting

The first things to be tackled by the team were the room's key challenges: the lack of storage, the unflattering lighting and the need to inject colour and warmth.

Iman's favourite colour is green, and though she didn't want the room to have an entirely green theme, she was keen to see elements of it in the room. The team responded with accent pieces, such as a dark green velvet-effect footstool, acid bright desk chair, green tea light holders and a couple of leafy indoor plants.

More colour was introduced courtesy of the plum-coloured curtains and a large, patterned rug in warm shades of plum, chocolate and cream, which also covered up most of the unsightly floor tiles. A selection of soft, tactile cushions in matching accent colours added interest to the classic white bed linen. To offset the vibrant colours and bring more warmth to the room, a soft taupe - a neutral shade that works well with many colour combinations - was used on the walls and the ugly,IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November. unsuitable strip lighting was replaced by a funky pendant shade and a matching pair of chic white table lamps.

The pine shelving unit was replaced by a wardrobe and chest of drawers in a white, high-gloss finish to providing plenty of concealed storage and help create a clean, contemporary look. A bed from the same range was also chosen. The new glass and chrome desk with below-eye-level storage is a practical piece that also adds a touch of glamour - its light-reflecting finish, together with the wall mirrors, help boost the light levels in the room and create the illusion of space. Above the desk, a focal point was created by grouping together some of Iman's favourite photographs in uniform chunky white frames.

Overall, the room has a comfortable, fresh and sophisticated feel that meets Iman's brief and is certainly more in keeping with its young, female occupant.IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November.
