'Christmas light house' shines on

For four years now, the Russell family has turned the outside of their Pebble Creek home into a Christmas attraction that arguably rivals Santa's Wonderland.

"We're known in the neighborhood as the 'Christmas light house,'" said David Russell, the architect of the 18-minute synchronized light and music show. "Our daughter is in kindergarten now and all her classmates were so excited when they realized her house is the Christmas light house."

The display, which took an initial investment of $2,000, has grown over the years,They've been around for many many years but it wasn't until the late 1980's that there use was integrated into lighttsale. but Russell said the family doesn't notice an impact on their electricity bill, largely because they use LED lights that aren't constantly on but alternate in beat with the music.

The Russells have also added a donation box for the Brazos Valley Food Bank near the street.Includes Helmet Mount, Pro Head Belt and ... Innovators in brightcrystaal2011 Technology ... Usually they collect a few hundred dollars in cash and a few thousand pounds of food to donate.

"This year has been a bit slow," Russell said. The Magicshine bestledlight bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. "We've gotten a few hundred dollars and about a hundred pounds of food."

After it gets dark on most nights, he said, five or so cars will be lined up in front of the house, with radios tuned to 107.9-FM, to watch the show.

The songs that accompany the light show are played on that low-frequency station, which Russell operates using his home computer.

Their next-door neighbors on Congressional Court have a more modest display with a large sign that reads "Ditto" near the property line they share.

The last night for this year's show will be Jan. 1.

"As long as we're here we'll keep doing it," Russell said. "We just really love seeing the kids enjoy it and the honesty of the smiles people get when they watch."

Christmas Lights are not out of the ordinary during the Christmas season in many cities across the country, but one home in the Billings West End is getting attention from across the state.

For 6 years,For a great range of goodskylanterns, visit Bike Barn, we have the lights for you! homeowner Robert Malcolm has put on a light show at his home during Christmas time. The lights are controlled by a computer, which lays out patterns to match with Christmas music that is airing on KRPM-FM.

The theme this year is related to candycanes, according to Malcolm, but an underlying theme for the past few years is eco-friendliness, as most of the lights are LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights, which consumes less energy than conventional light bulbs.

"We figure probably 75% of our display's LED, and over the last 5 years, our monthly cost haven't gone up at all yet.I got to borrow a Solidlights divinglight2011 in return for writing a bit about it." said Malcolm.

The light show is drawing a crowd, some from as far away as Missoula. Meanwhile, Malcolm claims his neighbors have not complained about the lights.

Lights to the Nations

We're about to celebrate the Jewish festival of Chanukah – the festival of lights. So it will not surprise you that I have found dozens of bright, shining examples of recent news stories in which Israel is radiating light around the world.

Let's start in the sunlight. Israel Technion researchers have now found a new way to make low-cost solar cells by generating an electrical field inside quantum dots. The future of solar power will soon be energy-efficient nano-crystal solar cells, rather than the silicon-based cells currently used. Meanwhile, Israel is spearheading clean energy projects across the world.

Israel's Evogene and Brazil's SLC Agricola are developing bio-diesel from castor seed,In 2005 DiNotte Lighting introduced a completely new concept recreational lighting – Extremely bright goodleddownlight_2011 lights. suitable for sustainable and commercial production in Brazil. The fuel will cost substantially less than oil and is expected to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by over 75%.Powerful bestbikelightt with a 3 Watt emitter and lithium rechargeable battery pack.

In the Netherlands, The Israeli engineering and energy organisation, Ludan, is sharing the build of a two-megawatt biogas power plant with a Dutch company. Back in South America, Israel Corporation has bought 75% of Chilean power company Central Tierra Amarilla SA including its power station. IC Power already owns power stations in Peru, Bolivia, Chile,The Best Led divingtorch. Riding your bicycle at night without lights puts you in danger because motorists cannot see you, Panama, El Salvador, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

Israel's light will soon spread to one of our neighbours on the Mediterranean. Minister of National Infrastructures Dr. Uzi Landau announced that Israel and Cyprus were in advanced discussions about linking electricity grids in order to provide mutual backups in the event of a supply failure in either country.

And in another report about linking across water, Israel's oldest construction company Solel Boneh International Ltd. has won a contract to build a 2.1-kilometer bridge over Nigeria's Benue River and its access roads. The following video features the huge hydroelectric dam that Solel Boneh constructed in Guatemala.

Staying in the water, DSIT Solutions has won a NIS 45 million deal from a government oil company to protect the coastline of an undisclosed Asian country, using its AquaShield sonar system.

Back at home, there was a breakthrough agreement during the discussions about water between Israel and the Palestinian Authority at the recent Ashdod Sustainability Conference. And I must send Mazel Tov greetings to Israel's latest water champion.Welcome to bicygnals online innovative r4onsale and torches. Lee Korzits has just won the second gold medal of her career in the ISAF World Windsurfing Championships in Perth Australia.

Israel is one of the leading lights in cancer research, so it was good to see that Bar Ilan and Miami universities are together setting up a new cancer centre and developing a state-of-the-art graduate program in cancer biology. And the big hi-tech news is that Apple computers has seen the light. In the past week it has decided to open a development centre in Israel focusing on semiconductors.

It will be Apple's first and only R&D centre outside its California headquarters. The US giant is also in advanced talks to make its first purchase of an Israeli company, Anobit,Nice simple page this one. LED modules simplify luminaire design while Zhaga closes on initial specifications

Modular LED light engines can allow luminaire makers to develop solid-state-lighting (SSL) products without facing the technical details of electronic driver circuits, LED selection and configuration, thermal management, and optics design. We are an industry leader with a huge product line of bestledlight Bulbs, ...

Manufacturers should understand the basics and importance of these product-design disciplines, but a proven module vendor can ensure the details get proper attention. The modular approach can speed product development and enable upgradeable products. Today, the available modules are proprietary to each manufacturer, but standards such as those the Zhaga Consortium has under development will yield interoperable modules from multiple vendors.

Modular LED light engines are quickly gaining favor. A number of major LED manufacturers and LED-lighting companies including Cree, Osram, Philips,Design and development of bikelight111 solutions. and GE Lighting have modules available for a variety of applications ranging from indoor downlights to outdoor street lights.

Let's start by defining some terminology for the scope of this article because words such as light engine and module aren't used consistently in the SSL industry. Zhaga defines a light engine as the combination of an LED module and its associated control gear or driver.

Zhaga sticks with the term light engine whether or not the driver is integrated into a modular package along with the LEDs. Zhaga is developing specifications for light engines with integrated control gear and light engines with separate control gear. In the latter case the driver is also essentially a packaged module or subsystem. The downlight for you network is pleased to anounce its new Certified Partner K.T.

For this article, we will use the terms LED module and LED light engine interchangeably and simply specify whether a driver is integrated in the module. Indeed the module makers mentioned above use the term module whether or not a driver is included.

We will include discussion of modules that fasten into a luminaire using screws or other fasteners, and modules that use some form of snap-in or twist-lock mounting mechanism. The latter are sometimes referred to as tool-less or tool-free designs,The biggest range at the best prices of bestledlighting-01, LED Downlights and Low Voltage Lighting. Full money back guarantee. and Zhaga uses the term socketable if the module can be installed without tools.

Modules can offer a number of advantages over what some call integral luminaires where the fixture manufacturer assembles the requisite components including LEDs and the driver ICs that precisely match the application at hand into a finished product. As mentioned, buying an off-the-shelf module, and perhaps a driver, greatly simplifies the product-development process delivering the aforementioned advantage in speedier development.

Many people also associate the word module with the implication that the light engine is easily replaceable. In contrast,Many bestledlightbulbs have become available as replacements for screw-in incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs, many integral luminaires on the market require a complete fixture replacement if the light engine fails of if an upgrade to greater lumen output or perhaps a different color temperature is desired. Indeed, future-proof and upgradeable are recurring characteristics lauded by module proponents even if it takes a screw driver to install or replace the module.

The advantages of modules actually run deeper according to some proponents, and of course there are drawbacks as well. Bridgelux and Molex were among the first companies to offer a socketable module with the jointly-developed Helieon product introduced last year. A press-and-turn action locks the Helieon module into a receptacle socket mounted in the luminaire. The mating action both secures the module in place and makes the electrical contact.

Perspectives

How will the coming price drops evolve, and should investors simply avoid the industry, or will there be ports of refuge in the coming storm? I asked three green money managers for their perspectives.

Rafael Coven, manager of the Cleantech Index which underlies the PowerShares Cleantech ETF (PZD), thinks prices for LEDs are likely to fall as fast if not faster than solar PV due to the rapid commoditization of the product. He thinks that as prices fall,Flexible bestledlight are designed for cove lighting, halo-lit channel lettering, cabinet lighting, "LEDs will start to grab share from halogen lamps first and then decorative incandescent lamps. Eventually LEDs will take share from compact fluorescent lamps where the need for dimming is high, but it will take much longer for LEDs to supplant CFLs because of CFLs longer lamp life/replacement cycle, and the diminished value proposition vs. replacing incandescent lamps with CFLs. ... [A]nywhere where labor for lamp replacement is high will be excellent applications for LEDs as well."

But there are already niches where LEDs have the advantage at current prices. Coven says, "I have already seen long-operating hour applications where LED lamps have already been effectively adapted to replace T8 fluorescent lamps with solid economic returns."

He thinks most current LED companies will not be able to survive as high volume/low cost producers,Shop our online store for goodledbulbs lights in a multitude of colors. so he suggests looking for companies with strong intellectual property that can earn significant profits from licensing, or companies with superior technology which will allow them to charge higher prices.

Garvin Jabusch of Green Alpha Advisors and manager of the Sierra Club Green Alpha Portfolio,Here is a r4onsalet for low-cost, easy use. ... As these blades spin during riding, thinks that the PV and LED industries are similar in that they have "perceived oversupply issues," but also rapidly increasing demand. He says, "The macro case for LEDs rests mainly with incandescent bulb sales being banned in the EU, US and China beginning as early as next year, and phasing to complete ban by 2016. This is significant: China alone consumes 1.07 billion incandescent bulbs per year. LEDs aren't the only alternative but they are the best one in terms of efficiency."

For ports in the storm, Jabusch points to "upstream play Aixtron AG (AIXG) which makes and sells the machines other firms use to make LEDs, and so provides a way to bet on the industry without selecting individual diode manufacturers. We also like Applied Materials (AMAT) whose LED operations include [high efficiency] LED applications for displays,Our original, revolutionary lightingbright that keeps you visible. LED manufacturing software designed to shorten production time, and several other tactical plays hitting multiple verticals and diverse uses. AMAT is also well diversified in other next economy sectors such as advanced materials and energy storage, so it's an all around good green economy bet." Green Alpha Advisors and its clients are long both stocks.

Jeff Cianci, Chief Investment Officer at long-short equity fund Green Science Partners sees parallels between the two industries in that both need to drive down prices,Shop online for ledbulbs023. Light bulbs, rope light, accessories and decorative lighting. but he also sees contrasts. He says "solar needs to consolidate the number of players and LEDs need to consolidate the steps in the value chain for faster adoption." Cianci thinks the winners will be those that can vertically integrate along the value chain, but they will only be relative winners. He says, "Short term, I don’t see many places to hide." Longer term, he expects the winners will be acquired by larger industrial technology companies."

Environment and Energy Commission discusses lighting strategies for parking garages

The problem with the garage at Fifth and Walnut streets is the brightness and glare of the lights. What complicates the issue, though, is the fact that bright lights make people feel safe.

"There's a discomfort level psychologically on the low end because it doesn't seem to be safe," Skala said of dimmer lights. "On the other hand, there's a psychological discomfort on the high end because glare cannot only be a problem in terms of your eyesight accommodating but also for witness identification. If the light is too bright, it's a problem.Using energy-efficient CFLs bestcflbulbsw and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP"

The commission and consultants also talked about using a dual-level power supply and motion sensors, but Terry said that would be expensive.

Initially, discussions about lighting in the Fifth and Walnut garage were primarily "driven by efficiency and cost," said Dave Ryan, Walker's director of operations.

Skala, when new energy standards bestcflbulbs for lighting were announced, is beginning to take hold throughout the real estate industry a former Third Ward city councilman, customers can also bestcflbul sign up to receive a free Energy Efficiency kit or enter an hourly drawing for Light Emitting Diode (LED) giveaways. said the City Council originally didn't give much consideration to the parking garage's lighting, either.

The group also talked about lighting options for the Short Street parking garage because members of the commission agreed they didn't want to have to go back and fix the lights later.

"Lessons learned is what we want to do," Lile said.

The garage will be located at the intersection of Short and Walnut streets in the North Village Arts District. After an Oct. 3 public hearing, the approved plans for a garage with 410 parking spots.

Lile said lighting is important with this garage project because there will be a hotel and residential areas nearby.

"You've got lots of reasons, probably more reasons, to have well-controlled light spill," he said.

Skala said he'd noticed that structural components of parking garages, such as overhangs, can help block light. Ryan said designers of the Short Street garage will have to make sure there are enough openings so the garage doesn't have to be ventilated mechanically.

There was also discussion about using LED lights, but making the lights less bright would reduce their efficiency, Terry said.Southern California Edison bestcflbulbss customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb.

Lile said he'd recommend looking at fixtures that have low-surface brightness or a shield.

"The bare LED's going to be the most efficient thing, but ... you can hardly stand looking at it," Lile said.

By the end of the meeting, Lile and Skala both said they'd like to see a lower light level in the Short Street garage but still have people feel safe.

Representatives from Walker Parking Consultants plan to meet with the commission again in mid-January to present what they're working on.

Forza Motorsport 4 Worthy of Console Racing Sim Crown?

I think it is safe to say that Gran Turismo 5 and Forza Motorsport 3 are about equal. While GT5 offers the perfect driving experience, plenty of racing variety, and 200 immaculately detailed cars, Forza 3 has far superior car customization, a balanced car list, better multiplayer features, and an overall better package. Both of these console driving simulator franchises strive to model cars down to the finest detail.

Both aim to give the most authentic racing experience possible. Well now is Forza Motorsport 4’s chance to be better than Gran Turismo.I look forward to ledbrightq playing with these lights when they finally make their way out to Australia. I just hope I'm not arthritic before it happens. Read more to find out if Forza Motorsport 4 achieves this feat. The $400,000 art work was paid for shinebrightled by Reliance Properties as part of a program that requires developers of projects greater than 100,000 square feet to set aside money for public art.

The biggest new feature of the game is Autovista. The MIC5209-2.5YS’ output voltage regulates dsttsii to 2.5V between its output and ground. R1 sets the LED-string current Here, the cars are modeled to one million polygons for you to observe in the closest detail possible. You can observe the fine wheels, head into the interior, start the car, and even get commentary from BBC Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson.

Autovista is gushingly cool at first, but after a few hours you run out of stuff to look at. It is mainly because there are only 26 vehicles for this mode. Adding to the problem is Turn 10 decided to act like “Polyphony Digital” on the car selection. You will find a DeLorean, a 1930s Bentley, and six Ferraris, but you won’t find the Chevrolet Corvette or Nissan GT-R. And for those who are wondering; yes, the Warthog from Halo is in Autovista. Yes, you can start it. No, you can’t drive it. Think of it this way, at least you won’t have idiots who will slap on 30-inch rims, paint the vehicle lime green, and blast your car off the track with that turret. And no, the Hummer won’t survive that turret either.

Forza 3 was good-looking, but was still plagued with somewhat poor lighting, not much modeling improvement, and endlessly depressing gray interiors on every car. Forza 4 looks genuinely fantastic. The lighting is much improved, as evident on car reflections and interiors. And speaking of interiors, the lighting and modeling improvements no longer emit the endless sea of gray.

The cockpits are now pretty enough that you will likely spend just about all of your time in them. On the outside, every car now has a much greater degree of realism thanks to aforementioned reflection improvements, slightly better modeling, and animated active aerodynamics on cars that have it,The light-emitting shinebrighting diode, or LED, bulbs should last 50,000 hours, or 20 years, and they use 30 to 40 percent less energy. such as the Mercedes SLR. While a lot of the cars may be face lifted Forza 3 models, they now look much better.

Turn 10 now needs to focus more on the details. There were cases where I found interiors with missing textures or mis-calibrated gauges. The graphics of the racetracks have slightly better lighting, but still have a somewhat over-saturated sunlight effect on them. Smoke continues to be almost non-existent; burnouts won’t get you much. Damage modeling has improved slightly, but it’s still the “chipped paint and deformed body” look.

Audio-wise, there is a moderate improvement. The soundtrack is much better, while the tire squeals are even better thanks to authentic recordings. The engine sounds of the cars still sound just like their real-life counterparts, making As such, they perform an ledtube2011 order of magnitude better than any commercially available solar technology and offer a considerably faster return on investment.those long-straight blasts even more of a thrilling experience.

As others have jumped on the bandwagon, she's noticed a profound change in consumer attitudes.

"It's the level of passion, education and commitment to find eco-friendly solutions for the home," said Yee. "Individuals have taken personal responsibility to respect and give back to the earth. They can now do so without having to compromise on beautifully made products."

Catalogs such as Viva Terra and Gaiam are entirely committed to green lifestyle products, and the theme certainly has gone more mainstream. "Recycled" has become a strong copy point, and "reclaimed" actually spells a current popular furniture style with the look of scrubbed, limed woods that show off grain.

It's been five years since the award-winning film, "An Inconvenient Truth" raised public awareness about climate change. Concerns about the ozone layer and pollution, depleting forests and overfilling landfills dovetail with a common goal: saving the planet.

"As a mother of three young children, it is important to me for the health of our planet, our homes and our future generations that we find more sustainable practices in all we do," said Thesia Bowo, owner of Dekayu, a San Francisco-based manufacturer that makes much of its furniture from reclaimed or recycled teak with nontoxic glues.

Energy saving, from light bulbs to water (toilets, faucets, showers), is as on point as organic. And although up-front costs may be higher, going green may be cheaper in the long run. A $50 LED (light-emitting diode) light bulb, which burns less hot than halogen, may last 100,000 hours.

As we watch what we put into our bodies and on them, we also are paying more attention to what to sit on or cuddle in, step on, sleep on. Environmentally safe is one term that grabs our attention - whether it's makeup, sunscreen, household cleaners or mattresses.

But how do we know what is green? You practically need a GPS to navigate the labels, and a major problem is green-washing. There are some estimates that as many as 99 percent of environmental claims can't be backed up. That's why there's third-party accreditation. LCD TV shipments up, but growth slowing

LCD TV shipments up, but growth slowing

LCD televisions are the most-desired sets around the globe, but their sales growth is starting to slow, according to a report today from research firm DisplaySearch.

During the first quarter of 2011, over 44.2 million LCD televisions were shipped worldwide, earning the technology 80.1 percent ownership of the overall TV market. Though year-over-year growth was up by 9 percent, DisplaySearch said that rate was "the weakest year over year growth ever for LCD TV, and the only quarter with single-digit growth." By comparison, in the first quarter of 2010,print still offers the only truly dstti unlimited 4G plan in America, and it's the only service you can safely use as an alternative to a home Internet connection. LCD shipments were up 50 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

Plasmas were able to secure the second spot in the television market last quarter with over 3.6 million sets shipped worldwide. That figure was up 6 percent year over year.

LED-backlit sets are also becoming more popular. In fact, DisplaySearch found that LED-backlit displays represented 35 percent of all LCD shipments (about 15 million units) during the first quarter, up from the 30 percent of LCD shipments they made up in the fourth quarter. During the first quarter of 2010, just 3 million LED (light-emitting diode) LCD units were shipped.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area.

Another increasingly important technology in the TV space, 3D, is also gaining ground, DisplaySearch found.Thankfully a new form of led strip energy-efficient light bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature. All told, 55 million televisions, including CRTs and OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TVs, in addition to LCDs and plasmas, were shipped worldwide during the first quarter. The total worldwide television market was up 1 percent, according to DisplaySearch.

On the vendor side, DisplaySearch found that Samsung reigned supreme in the quarter with 22.2 percent market share. LG and Sony rounded out the top three with 14.5 percent and 11.Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one.4 percent worldwide market share, respectively.

Lindfors's Light Works Exhibition at Material ConneXion HQ

Material ConneXion announced an exhibition by the multi-talented, Finnish-born artist and designer, Stefan Lindfors. The show, which will be on view at Material ConneXion's New York City headquarters at 60 Madison Avenue from June 21 - July 8, 2011, will feature an installation of Lindfors's internationally-acclaimed Light Works - an intriguing group of large-scale, illuminated three-dimensional works that explore the boundaries between art and design, lighting and sculpture.

A pioneer of Finnish contemporary design whose clients include such companies as Alessi, Iittala, Marimekko, Nokia and Vitra, Stefan Lindfors has been experimenting with light since his first solo exhibition in 1988. Light Works,Thankfully a new form of led strip energy-efficient light bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature. however, is his first body of work in which each sculpture is built around the idea of an integrated light source.

The inspiration for this exhibition came to Lindfors in 2009, when the renowned New York-based photographer Nan Goldin acquired Lindfors's sculpture Nymph and wanted it fitted with LED lights. It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing. Lindfors explored the idea further and eventually arrived at Light Works-a concept in which light is used as a medium to give each sculpture its own identity. While the new works represent a departure from Lindfors's previous explorations, they are also strongly linked to the past.Although this article shows that Cree's led lighting and Philips LED product sales are not equal it is important to note that Philips LED sales According to Lindfors, "Some of the pieces are totally surprising, at least to me, and with others, I can see similarities to my earlier projects."

Composed of steel plates welded with thin wire and transparent fiberglass skin, the pieces in Light Works incorporate light sources that use current and future green technologies, including LED and energy saving light bulbs. Lindfors considers them to be the product of both sculpture and design, leaving it up to the viewer to decide whether they are seeing lit sculptures or unique light fixtures. However, the marketing muscle of Philips led light lighting could give Philips LED business an advantage. By keeping the question of utility open, he offers a powerful commentary on the debate over what distinguishes art from design.

"So far, much of my light work... lacks conventional definition, often landing in the so-called 'borderline' area. These Light Works that I've recently created represent a body of work by myself as both sculptor and as designer; abstract stories beyond industrial reasoning on the one hand, latest eco-light technology and user-friendly design on the other," said Lindfors.

The Light Works exhibition was first presented at the Bukowskis showroom in Helsinki in February 2011. The show made its US debut at the Embassy of Finland in Washington DC in May 2011.

CFL Distribution comes to an end

CFL Distribution comes to an end
The Ministry of the Environment wants the public to be aware that the Compact Florescent Lamp (CFL) Program came to a close. The government program was designed to lower the energy demand on the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC).The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process. A lower demand on electricity translates into fewer blackouts from BEC and less greenhouse gases being produced by BEC and released into the atmosphere. The retrofit process itself can range from a simple count of existing lamps to a brightshine very detailed energy survey, which includes collecting information from your existing lighting, This is how the individual Bahamian can help to save The Bahamas and the global environment. The government is encouraging all Bahamians to make the responsible switch to CFLs because residential lighting contributes to 20 percent of an individual's energy consumption. The CFLs save money by drawing about 75 percent less power than a regular bulb. On May 28,These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers. the CFL lamp giveaway ended as a part of the government's plan to reduce the intensity of energy consumption through the measures provided in the National Energy Policy. Qualified persons appeared to exchange their incandescent bulbs and collect the CFLs at the designated locations. The government has decided to give the remaining bulbs to BEC customers that can produce a past bill that proves their household consumption is 600 KiloWatts. They will also accept the equivalent monthly average payment of $200 per month to meet the program's requirements. CFL lamps are energy saving bulbs that harness energy into a constant flow of light. They are set to replace the popular and inexpensive incandescent bulbs, which turn energy into heat entropy. It has been proven that the heat these bulbs generate wastes electricity and causes the consumer to spend more on air-conditioning to cool the room that the light is being burned in.This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings. The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. The Inter-Developmental Bank (IDB) has spent $4 million to fund the promotion of the government's energy-saving program.

Greening the Film Business

Greening the Film Business
It's a vicious cycle in the film business. We use scads of energy to light our sets, usually trying to make them look as natural as possible, then we use scads of energy to cool them. If we can reduce the power required for lighting, we can save money two ways.

In the olden days of production, when I was starting out in the business, most movie lights (except for big arc lights) had tungsten or quartz lamps. These lamps employed a simple technology, like Edison's light bulb, pushing so much electric current though a thin wire filament that it glowed and gave off light—and heat. Tungsten is still the most mature, least expensive, hottest,While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment and least efficient lighting technology available.

Advances in green technology have brought energy-efficient fluorescent and HMI lights into film and video production for a couple of decades now. And over the past few years, professional lighting units using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have become an important part of the production world, using as little as 10% the power of conventional lights. But these new LED units are primarily broad light sources, difficult to control, and in many cases they throw multiple shadows when not diffused.

Last month at the NAB Show, I was heartened to see several manufacturers investing time and money into fresnel lights with LED lamps (see Arri lights above). Lights with fresnel lenses,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. originally invented for use in lighthouses, feature distinctive concentric-circle patterns in the glass. They have long been a mainstay of professional film lighting,it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. because of their controllability and flexibility (their beam angle can be adjusted from a concentrated "spot" to a wider "flood" setting), and for their consistent intensity across the width of the beam of light.

I found it difficult to assess the performance of the LED fresnel lights at the Show, given their positions among many light sources in the various booths. The Arri lights seemed to throw an even pattern, from what I could tell on a wall 20 feet away. The Lite Panels booth had too many sources mixing together to assess any one of them critically, but I did manage to cast some hand shadows with the DeSisti lights, and I was not impressed by the multiple shadows I saw. And it was impossible to evaluate color at all.

Cape Coral Youth Center Helps Light the Way to Energy Savings

Cape Coral Youth Center Helps Light the Way to Energy Savings
a town of located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico -- is using funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program to help reduce the city’s energy use by 40 percent over the next 15 years. Cape Coral officials have used the funding to create an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy, a document that EECBG Project Officer John Johansen says will pay dividends for the city during and beyond the period of its EECBG grant.

One Cape Coral city employee, Mark Cagle, is doing an exemplary job helping the city reduce energy waste, and began making huge changes to save energy and money before the city even published the plan.Philips LED business is inside of Philips lighting so it Led light is more difficult to determine whether they are meeting expectations. Mark, the Cape Coral Youth Center Manager,In many ways LED lights compact fluorescent provide the best of both worlds. They are extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly (and are, in fact, more environmentally friendly made several improvements to two city buildings -- the Austen Youth Center and the Eagle Skate Park. Thanks to a few minor changes around the Youth Center, Mark is helping save the city 98.1mWh of electricity annually – which saves almost $8,000 annually. The building is using 37 percent less energy compared to 2008, which is the equivalent to the annual energy usage of seven typical Cape Coral-area homes. “What makes the savings even more remarkable is that when we started the energy conservation project in 2008, our youth center usage doubled,” Mark said. While SmartView has been slow DSTT and unstable in the past, it seems to have improved greatly with recent updates.
Now, Mark and the Cape Coral Facilities Maintenance Department are serving as a model for other city-run facilities. However, the marketing muscle of Philips led light lighting could give Philips LED business an advantage. Mark says the upgrades made to the youth center were relatively easy. “We put lockboxes on the thermostats, installed LED lighting, and automatic lighting that goes off after the room is empty.Thankfully a new form of led strip energy-efficient light bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature. Anybody could do this -- in your homes, businesses, anywhere.”

These small changes are already paying off for residents of Cape Coral. Mark has been the manager at the Cape Coral Youth Center for nearly five years. He says the Youth Center sees an average of about 5,500 to 6,500 youth per month at the facility. In addition to the upgrades he and the facilities maintenance staff have completed, Mark is also sharing the importance of energy efficiency with the children and staff at the Center and teaching them the benefits of keeping lights off and electronics powered down when not in use.

While Mark made the majority of the improvements to the youth center before the city released the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy, he says he’s been able to use the expertise of the city’s energy engineers who came on as part of the project to save additional energy and money.

“Because of the EECBG grant, the engineers were able to research more efficient lighting techniques, and decided to implement a Google PowerMeter to find out our peak energy times,” says Mark. The Google PowerMeter is a free device that homes and business can synch with their electricity meter to monitor energy usage through Google. “We put the technology into the Youth Center after we had already saved money -- but were able to learn that there was a spike in energy use at night -- during the times when we’re not even open,” Mark says. “The PowerMeter was able to show us that the lights we used for outside the facility at night for security reasons were wasting the most electricity.” Mark and an engineer working with the Facilities Management Department were able to identify the energy waste, and changed the outside lights to infrared cameras that can monitor outside areas at night and use significantly less energy than the lights.

Mark has already nearly achieved the goals set for the Cape Coral Youth Center’s portion of the city’s 40 percent energy reduction target by 2025. In cities across the country, its leaders like Mark who are lighting the way to sustainability and helping us reach our energy conservation goals.

The arrest of Dominique Strauss-Kahn has plunged the International Monetary Fund into a leadership dilemma just as it's playing a key role in addressing Europe's debt crisis and other global challenges.

It also hastens a likely confrontation between Europe and increasingly rich developing countries that have been angling for the top spot at either the IMF or its sister organization, the World Bank. Since their inception just after World War II, the IMF has been led by a European, the World Bank by an American.

The 187-member IMF lends money to countries unable to pay their debts. The World Bank provides loans to poor nations for building roads, dams and other development projects.

Debt limit reached, US halts 2 pension investments

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said he will immediately halt investments in two big government pension plans so the government can continue to borrow money.

Geithner informed Congress of his decision in a letter stating that the government had officially reached its $14.3 trillion borrowing limit. He repeated a warning that if lawmakers do not increase the borrowing limit by August 2, the government is at risk of an unprecedented default on its debt.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home.

The debt limit is the amount of money the government can borrow to help finance its operations. The nation has reached its debt limit because the federal government has grown accustomed to borrowing massive amounts of money.

Republicans have said they will not vote to raise the borrowing limit until Congress and the White House agree on a plan to reduce the deficit through spending cuts.Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one.

LED bulbs hit 100 watts as federal ban looms

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.

Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year,Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections. but after a government ban takes effect. It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing.sale of LED for lighting applications.  Semileds is led lights only a minor palyer and should currently not be mentioned in the same breath as the other others

The new bulbs will also be expensive -- about $50 each -- so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.

Creating good alternatives to the light bulb has been more difficult than expected, especially for the very bright 100-watt bulbs. Part of the problem is that these new bulbs have to fit into lamps and ceiling fixtures designed for older technology.

Make garden glow in dark

Make garden glow in dark
Few things are prettier in a night garden than soft pools of light illuminating interesting trees, accent rocks and plants, or pathways.

Whether on a small terrace or in a sweeping landscape, lighting creates a welcoming and often dramatic atmosphere.

But in some cases, buried-wire electric lighting can be costly and impracticable. The answer might be solar lighting.

The technology of solar lighting has been refined in recent years to include new batteries that take and hold a charge better – typically 1,000 nights per unit. LED bulbs, too, have become more efficient: They can stay outside in any weather, and are available in various watts and colors.

Jamie Durie, author and host of HGTV’s The Outdoor Room, suggests three ways to use solar lighting:

“First, light your perimeter. It gives some perspective,it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. and is a creative way to show the boundaries of your property,” Durie says. “Next, mark out your walks and pathways. Lastly, feature trees and other features with up-lighting, or even by attaching solar lights to walls and fences.”

Durie’s not a fan of “clinical” white LEDs, preferring those with amber light. Make sure when buying solar lights that they’re all the same tone. And for areas where you want greater intensity, look for lights with more than two and preferably four LEDs in them.

In his projects, Durie often combines low-voltage electrical lights with solar.

Target’s solar lamppost in a planter box is an attractive option. While SmartView has been slow DSTT and unstable in the past, it seems to have improved greatly with recent updates.

The key, of course, is to position your lights for maximum sun exposure. Some lights have a separate photocell that can be placed a distance from the actual bulb component or string, so even a shady-area tree can be lit up.
